Anyone know what I should look for when my a/c blows cold while driving but loses its cool while at or near idle? Its no big deal while on the highway but city driving is brutal. Thanks!
im having the same problem and i think we have it narrowed down to the fan clutch. its a $50 dollar part and labor runs about $100. If your truck runs at normal temp during steady driving but warmer in stop and go traffic it is probably the fan clutch. I also seem to notice that the ac is not as cold when at stop, but when i start moving its fine. Been told this is th esymptoms of the fan clutch. it sits right in front of your fan.
its the A/C condensor fan. no air flow when stopped because the fan is not coming on. Simple to replace. I had the same issues on my 03 and bought the entire fan and housing from ebay for about $75 if I remember correctly. About 1 hour to swap out and you don't have to discharge the system like the manual says you do, jut cut the shroud around where the lines go into the condensor.
