Well i had the fun task of replacing my heater core and it was alot of fun only took me about 5 hours or so messing around but was alot of work here are some pictures that will help out with having to take stuff apart and if you have any questions about anything im willing to help
Oh boy , if that job doesn't look familiar . I've had to do mine twice . The first one I replaced was defective . I should of refused the part when I saw the box was damaged , but the core looked ok and even pressure tested out ok .
ya its all done now works really well and me being a smartass i cracked it up when my gf was in the truck and she was like turn it down lol it was 60s out so didnt need it anyways
Thanks for posting the pics! I am tearing my 2003 apart to replace the heater core and was wondering if I had to split the plenum but your pictures show that I can slip the heater core out without splitting it.
I did a lot more dash disassembly than was necessary!!
finished reassembling mine today, works great. too bad the "engineers" don't plan for maintenance and make the core removable from the top so you can remove it without draining the A/C!!
I am working on my truck and using the haynes manual i did too much. I see in the picture that the bracket with all of the wires attached was removed. What steps do I need to take in order to make my truck look like the first picture. I can go from there. Thanks in advance!

i am working on my truck and so far i got just about everything except for that dash support out, i believe i have all of the bolts of but just my right side will come out just about 2 inches and my left side wont budge at all, does anyone know what im doing wrong? any help is appreciated.
Did you lay the steering wheel down and remove the bolts againts the lower firewall on the drivers side (the bolts that hold the brake booster, as well as disconnect the brake pedal)?
The key to removing this dash is to lower the steering column and remove the two bolts that screw up through the crossmember :Wow1: I pulled the dash and will be replacing the heatercore tommorrow after work :box2:

thanks for the info and pics! now do you happen to have a address of the design engineers that created this nightmare that is so involved and causes the need to remove the freon another expense and waste so we can kick their ass's and the ass's of the idiots that made that #$#@#%%^^& brittle dash!
