2004 Dodge 2500 5.9 Diesel
Crazy question I am sure. Last year when we got the truck I noticed that it didn't cool well sitting still. Pulled a heavy load about 200 miles and truck wanted to start overheating when I ran the AC. Made for a long hot haul! Decided the coils and radiator probably needed cleaned. Did that- helped some but not much.
After taking the head off to repair cracked valve sleeves, bent push rod and broken rocker arm bolt this past month- we finally got it all put back together yesterday and it runs great! Went to charge the AC (husband has a residential/commercial HVAC business) so he picked up some auto gauges today to do the job right. Head pressure was staying around 400 (thats what he said). Said it needed to be lower and have more air moving through the condenser to lower it. We put a box fan in front of the condenser and it lowered it to around 175-180 and we were able to properly charge the ac.
Is it supposed to have condenser fans? I am 99% positive it should however it was never there. Are there 2 of them? Can anyone post a pic of where they are/would be? We had all of the front coolant system out practically and no fans. Fully cleaned everything with coil cleaner this time. Where would the wires and plugin be? I seriously need to find me a truck locally and look at the front of theirs. I'm thinking this didn't help my turbo that had to be replaced last year-AT A REPUTABLE SHOP who I think should have asked "hey- where are your fan(s)
