I'm looking for to check it before I replace it. The AC blows cold while the truck is moving, but is intermittent warm/cold while not moving. The fan does not turn while parked with AC on and motor at operating temp. I checked the fuse and it's good. I'm guessing one of the two wires that go to the fan should be hot. Maybe do a probe test?
In an apparent unrelated situation, I was getting an antifreeze oder through the AC and thought the heater core was leaking :str:, but I see there is coolant on the radiator reservoir tank and it seems the cap is bad. Is that likely?
Yes I appreciate it, there is a slight misunderstanding though. I probably wasn't clear enough. I was talking about the electric cooling fan by the AC radiator (by the battery under the hood). I looked on You Tube and wouldn't you know, I don't see anything on that. Maybe someone on here can give a general rundown???
Still curious about the radiator cap as well, do those go bad and allow coolant to leak out?
Youtube search" dodge ram Ac radiator fan" brought this up, there is 2 parts. Now about this (rad)cap, they do go bad the rubber seal tends to stiffen up over time I have replaced mine. Also the Rad cap has a certain temp when it opens/closes to allow coolant to and/from the reservoir. Then it could also be ceased and allow coolant to leak out the radiator.
OK, excellent! I did try different word combos for the search, but apparently not that one. The cap does look OK (rubber not cracked or too stiff, spring seems good) that's why I was concerned maybe it was something else, like the system building too much pressure or something. I'll try a new one.
Thanks!
