Hey dude, I finally decided to just drop some cash on my truck, ball joints, steering dampener, new, pump and a couple of other things, should be done tomorrow, hopefully I'm done with driving like a cartoon (wheel moving back-&-forth while going straight), next month cooling system & heater core.
man thats a bummer!!!! i dont know if you caught wind of my recent adventures but i had tranny issues with mine, sold in in november, and i separated from the af in December, back in wisconsin now. hows everything other than that going for you?
Dude, so I finally took my truck to a small garage where the owner runs the counter and helps work on the vehicles, this guy tells me the axle seals are fine and the noise is coming from a bearing on the front, and its only gonna cost half as much. There I am expecting to pay an arm & leg plus and extra 70% for the inevitable "oh, and we found this", should have went there way sooner.
the roof lights look cool, I fianlly got around to getting brakes redone, costed almost 500 the replace everything on the front and just clean the back, they sid the brakes on the front where undersize for the tire size. took them 4 hours just to inspect them and 2 hours to get the work done. all day at the shop. plus I have that wineing noise when turning, so I'll have to get that done next.
hey dude, I'm thinking of putting some dixie horns under my hood to do the dukes of hazzerd horns, should be about $70 but I also want to get a sound deadining sheet to rap around the air compresser, since all the videos I've seen of the horns you can hear the air compresser if I wrap it in the sheet it should be cool. I saw this show on the outdoor channel called "off road overhaul" they add all these parts and skid plates to trucks and jeeps, it pretty cool.
so I realized I hadn't had an alignment or rotation since my trip from south dakota to chicago and from south dakota to san diego, and I seen a little funny wear on my front left tire, the same one that had that rattling sound and turns out the mechanic broke a bolt on the suspension and found a bushing was fused so there not gonna charge me for the bolt but with the fused bushing there just gonna charge me for the parts, so I went from just a $168 rotation, balance and alignment to $289 to replace the bushings, the mechanic is just gonna eat the labor cost for customer satisfaction, they did give me a ride home yesterday and there gonna pick me up today to pick up the truck, so all in all I think its turning out ok, but I had to keep saying Im from South Dakota, because they kept mentioning the truck being east coast because of the rust, I think its just anywhere that uses salt on the road.
