Transmissions are very easy. There isn't one system on a car that is actually difficult to repair... Most of the time I find it is just difficult to get to (no room to work). Anyways, I sent the service manual to that email you provided. It has tons of photos and everything, you should be set with that. The snap ring could cause jumps. Even if it could not, you would want to go in and replace that broken ring. It can cause worse things than a jumping gear. If you ever need parts I recommend makcotransmissionparts.com. I have ordered from them numerous times. They haven't ever let me down. If you ever have a question just ask or email me back. I will be sure to help you asap.
