i have an open flow exhaust in it and
i put an open air breather on it this weekend and ajusted my shift points in the trans and there is a noticeable diferance in it already watching the mpg's to see if it makes a differance. i useually do try to keep my foot off the peddle as much as i can but every now and then give it a little extra just to have fun. is there any parts that i can upgrade or changethat would help me move in the right direction

Like RedRam10 mentioned, I'd start with an intake, even a good drop in filter helps but a CAI is really going to help it breathe. More air in means more air out, so something a little less restrictive than the stock exhaust setup will help. Do you have any mods on it already? In my case, we had headers on my '81, had those shaved, bumped up the cam, dual side exit exhaust, really had fun with that one.

Hello again. My personal opinion on chips/tuners, if they're coupled with other mods, especially CAI and exhaust, can work pretty well and net some decent gains, but in order to really get that efficiency out of it, you really need all three mods. Personally, I'd rather just do the engine work, which we did on my '81 Ram with the 318, and I really liked the results there. Never saw the track with it lol, and I wasn't really worried about mpg's, but did see my fair share of kills.
