Have you considered , having a mechanic test drive the Ramcharger first and get his opinion before investing a small fortune in a upgrade that may not be necessary ? Even though you've replaced everything there may be a problem with the present brake system that you have overlooked . There are several things you can do . Steel braided brake hoses are always a plus . Brake pads : Stock replacement or performance . I have a Chrysler 300 SRT8 that has the Brembo brake system on it . The brake system is awesome . The problem that I had with it was "brake dust" . I could wash the car and wheels , one day later the wheels are already turning black from the Brembo brake pads .
I decided to change them out for a set of aftermarket pads that are suppose to produce minimal amount of dust . Well the aftermarket pads have fixed that problem but what a difference in braking . The Brembos would stop on a dime and give ya change back where as the aftermarkets work fine but the aggressiveness just isn't there . It would be my decision to try a different pad like EBC first and maybe even consider a upgrade to stainless steel brake hoses also before doing a complete system upgrade . The factory system should work well enough to handle stopping the Ramcharger . If you still want to upgrade check out SSBC Brakes . I checked them out and they say they have a drum to disc conversion for '94 and up . I don't see why that system won't work for ya . They may have a system available for your '93 that just isn't listed . But really get a honest opinion from a mechanic before proceeding . Let me know how you make out . Tom
Hey Toms Blue Ram 1500....The last time you posted to me was about this time last year to greet me in to this new Mopar family. Now I need your expert advise....I just posted a better braking need for my 93 LE Ramcharger. I have looked just about everywhere for a kit or swap that can be made to increase better braking to my 1/2 ton but the really great manufactures that do make some mighty fine kits for this kind of upgrade don't have ANYTHING for my truck....most don't have anything for Dodges for that matter. You said to let you know when I need some expert info. or help soooooo what cha got along this subject??? The only solid answer would be to cannibalize my 1 ton 1990 350 Power Ram for front and rear axle assemblies. I'd rather not do this. I have faith in you........I'll be waiting for any help you can come up with and Thanks Tom.....OR anyone else that might see this.....Allen from the California Coast....
