I'm an ex-GM guy so I know nothing about the engines that Chrysler offers in their trucks, just know about the Hemi and the Cummins and that's it. If all you need is 4.7L then that should be good, I don't think a Hemi with MDS would get you better fuel economy. Hemis are great if you do a lot of hauling like I do.
Nope, I don't have a hemi. They didn't offer the Hemi until 2003, I have a 2002, so it's either the 4.7 or the 5.9. I have a 4.7L V8 in mine. I'm not getting any savings at the pump either. I get about 13-14 mpg (a lot of city driving though).
Huh? You don't have a Hemi in that thing? Sure as hell is a nice looking truck. To be honest with you, I don't think I've seen a Ram 1500 around here, at least not a Crew Cab without the Hemi engine. Hell almost everyone around here with a Silverado/Sierra or F-150, basically anything with a Crew Cab orders a V-8. Well, at least you don't have to spend as much fuel as we do. Damn Hemi is killing me in fuel costs. My frikking Cummins has better fuel economy!
