Wouldnt need the housing, would I? I want to do the job. Talked with a service guy this morning and he was projecting dash removal and a 7 hour ordeal. Trying to run up the bill I suppose I just don't wqant to get into it and find that I can't finish the job.

If you truck doesn't have the amplifier mounted beside the recirc door housing, you can replace just the door and actuator from the repair kit. The kit comes with a new housing but it requires pulling the dash if you want to put it in as well. Assuming you don't have the amp and you don't care about the housing, you can install the new door and actuator in about an hour. Let me know what you decide to do and I'll write up a how to.

    Randy,

If it is the recirc door, is that something I could repair at home? I'll let you know whether it's broken. I'm going to tear into it tonight, I hope

I can pretty much guarantee you that it's the recirc door that's broken. The easiest way to tell is to open the glove box, release the stops that hold it in the full open position so you can lower it down and get a look at the recirc door. The door flap is covered with foam so if all you see is a lot of open space and nothing that looks like a foam door, the your door is broken. If you still arent sure, the operate the mode knob between recirc and fresh air settings and look for the door to move.
