AK47 advice

Looking at buying an AK47 went to the gunshop and they had a wasr 10 for 549.00 seemed a little high seeing as thought Im hearing rumors of wasr 10's for like 225.00. anyone have an advice on a brand or make for a good price, whats a good price etc etc thanks!

Why do you want an AK over say, an AR-15?

AK's are junk get a AR-15 yeah you'll spend a lil more but be alot happier with it

AK's are not junk, theyre cheaper and more reliable than an AR. The smallest amount of dirt will jam an AR whereas and AK will still fire. It also has a bigger round, better stopping power. To each is his own and I just want one.

Ok ok slow down people. I have both and enjoy both for seperate reasons. I have a WASR and if I was going to buy again I would spend a little more and get a Arsenal or a Siaga. That price is kinda high but you also need to see what you expect out of it.

what did you pay for your wasr if you dont mind me asking?

Like $400 but it was several years ago. It was ok but you need to ensure you inspect it closely before you pay. They have issues with canted front sights and the stamping is sometime real loose.

AK's do tend to go bang every time you pull the trigger but they are hard to get good accuracy out of (compared to AR's). You're right, "to each his own", but my guns never get dirty enough to put either design in jeopardy of jamming. The Vietnam days of of fouling and jamming for the AR is long past. You also have a lot more options (uppers, barrels, accessories) with the AR as opposed to the AK. Just my opinion. Good luck with the search.

plus if your looking to just plink the AR will be slightly less to shoot, i believe i paid like $3-5 more a box for the 7.62x39 over the .223
