Mud flap issues

I had molded splash gaurds put on my 2011 dodge ram ( no flares), within 1 month 3 were cracked and also rubbed the paint off the front driver side at the edge where the gaurd would mount. I had those replaced with mopar rubber splash gaurds the back gaurds are great but my rocker panel pokes through and is exposed with the front gaurds. I think the dealership installed them wrong, but they say they didn't. They had cut a v in the gaurd when they were installing, which leaves the rocker exposed, now to me that makes the gaurd pointless. Is anyone else have this or any issue with their rubber splash gaurds?

Thanks Bill

PS: this is my first post, and I look forward to being a member

I have the husky liners and no cutting was needed at all. they came with some 3m paint protector strips to put on the paint so it would not rub it off. that sounds a little suspect to me..

ps. welcome aboard make sure you go to the newbie check in and post some pics or you WILL get eaten alive.

I didn't see anywhere in the instructions for cutting a v in them but they already look like they have a v shape. Installation instructions are on the mopar parts site. If it doesn't look like on the instructions I would print them out and take them to the dealer and demand they do it right if you are sure they cut it

Sorry to hear that man, I was thinking of getting the solid mud guards too, but i'm gonna change venue now that I know they crack and the paint wears off ...

Thanks for the info !

Reading that pdf, seems to me like they just install them flaps a little lower than they were supposed to, therefore exposing the panel ...

Ya possitive they cut them and like I said the rocker is exposed, something isn't right.
Losing confidence in The Thunder Bay dealer real fast, the body shop manager originally said they must have been instaslled wrong, so I brought it back to have them replaced and he changed his mind saying he made a mistake and that is how they fit( I call bullshit) , I showed another body shop and they also agreed they were installed wrong said the rocker shoudn't be exposed . Thanks for the advice I will print off the instructions and bring it back to the dealer!!

they are plastic molded.. I am really impressed with the huskys. they fit great.. and have not had any cracking or any problems for that matter in 8 months.

Huskies EH!!! thanks I will check them out, like I said I had no luck with Mopar's, I think even the 3M tape would prevent the Gaurd from rubbing off the paint.

sad to hear your molded mud flaps had cracked on you. i still ahve mine on and no signs of cracks yet. although i am weary about the chaffing that youa re talkign about from the mudflap. and towards your rubber mud flap for the dealer to cut them was a mistake on their point . like you said it defeats the whole purpose and are inproperly installed most likely due to lack of knowledge on the mechanics part. like i always say, it never hurts to ask a question because you look like more of a retard if you dont and you do the job wrong!
