I had one on my '56 chevy 1/2 ton, that thing worked sweet, i never had to kneel down

Looks like it would work well but im lookin to make 1 i can mount like you see on the jeeps with the tire mounted up on the rear bumper...

Somthing like this http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/i...rokee_XJ_3.jpg

if your gonna mount itto the top of the rear bumper, make sure you make a plate to go on the underside where your mounting it as the bumper itself aint very thick and would bend the top of it from the weight

yea i plan onreinforcing it with half inch steel

mr.lopar 01-14-2012 02:27 AM

1/2" would be a lil over kill, 1/4" would do

I wish i had known that you wanted one like that, in my searching, there were several swing out, upright spare tire mounts

maybe you can get ideas from this site

Maybe something like a HitchGate by TIREGATE? Easier than fabbing up bumper inserts.
