Reality Check

Getting ready to pull the intake on my truck. Been reading about kegger mods, plates, m1's, and Hughes intakes. I love performance mods like everyone else, but the more I look the more it doesn't make sense.

My truck is a 98 Ram 1500 4x4 w/5.2. I use it to haul, gravel, lumber, trailers, and when the roads get iffy. It basically never pushes the tach past 3200rpm. Am I going to see a benefit from any of these mods, most seem to come on at 3500 or 4000. Would I be better served with an electric fan and undersized pully set?

Just need some real world advice.

Thanks

Yeah you're pretty much on track. I wouldn't even go for an under-sized pulley set, especially on a work truck. Modest mods to improve basic performance is your best bet.

for towing/hauling i'd just mod the kegger and install the billet belly pan. cheap and effective.
