5.7 swap into a s10

Got a chance to get a hemi with ecm an harness for 300 bucks . got a s10 shell out back thinking about putting the 5.7 in it and making it into a track only truck :4-looney:I'm sure im going to have to make headers for it. would like to do a 6.1 intake and a 125 shot.

would be a sweet project if you are just looking to build something different. probably need custom motor mounts, driveshaft, headers and use an electric fan vs the belt driven one to free up some room for fitment.

what trans would you use?

heavy2500 01-17-2012 10:16 AM

yea im sure im going to be doing alot of cutting an welding not sure on trans yet, the NAG1 in my mag handled the nitrous an cam pretty good an SHR builds some good lx trans. plus after market for the s10 is everything you could think of.

The 5.7/6.1 is a small block so it should work. For those of you who dissagree, the gen 11 is over 200 lbs heavier and can be bored/stroked well over 636 cubes. Headers will most likely have to be vented through the front fenders because of the narrow frame rails. We have a 496 big block S10 in the neighborhood...a late model 94 or 95. It's got a bit of all three Chevy, Dodge and Ford in it! Good idea...good luck with it!
