Plasti Dip side steps?
Has anyone plastidiped there side steps? Mine are chrome and i don't feel like buying new ones, and the fun thing about plastidip is that you can peel it away if ever i want them chrome again.

I'm just wondering how it will last over here up north with the winters and salt, and how many cans should I look into buying?

Hey man , good to here from a fellow canuck !

I've never tried the plasti-dip on side-steps , but i did do the chrome bumpers on my colorado and they were fine after 2 years of winter abuse. never had an issue with cracking , peeling or anything . I also did the "chrome" plastic grill and clear coated it afterwards for a bit of shine instead of the flat plasti-dip color . I used 4 cans total for the front and back bumpers ( 3 coats each ) and still had enough to do the grill .

Hope this helps !

Sick name btw! :P

You can apply a clear coat over top? but won't that take the easy peel off feature away if you add a regular clear? Just wondering, i thought about keeping them matte black, I think it would look better.

jujst FYI i have done my rims in plasti dip, thy are wearing awesome been since last summer and not a mark, used them all fall in the woods for hunting, and so far this winter and nothing yet. as for side steps, im nut sure how it would last, but as long as you have a step pad, and not actually stepping on the plasti-dipped id say it will last awesome!

Yup I've got step pads, I can't grantee I or my passengers will always step on them though lol.

I use to step on my dipped front bumper all the time to get to the back of the engine bay , as long as you dont twist your feet while standing on it ,it doesnt do too much damage .

And ya the clear coating does make it hard to take off but it does come off , just comes off in flakes instead of a peel .

Plasti Dip makes a new gloss that you can spray over the top. Try that perhaps instead of clearcoating.
