Brake lights 85 D100 Filament Question
The light for the brakes, turn signals, and taillights, is a two filament bulb. Educate me about these filaments. What filament should the brake lights be operating off of? And what of the turn signals and the taillights? Thanks.
not sure what you asking.
one filament is on when your lights are on. then when you brake the second filament lights up. when you use your turn signal the brake filament (second filament) flashes. in your lights are not on at all, then the first filament isnt on or used at all, only the second filament. for braking and turn signal
are you wanting a part number?
The outer (brass casing) is the ground. The two nipples on the bottom supply the power to each filament. One is for driving/parking lights. The other for stop and turn.
I can't remember which prong is for which. Take two pieces of wire and use one as a ground on the brass casing. Then tap each nipple. The bright one is stop/turn.
If the socket is clean look down inside of it as the set prongs on the side of the casing is off set, meaning one is closer to the bottom than the other. Line up the corresponding prong with it's counterpart in the socket, push in and twist to lock.
You can also use the a test light to test the socket. I'm pretty sure the top filament (the one that sticks out further) is the stop/turn and slightly brighter.
