Plastic intake manifold porting??

Has anyone heard of the plastic manifolds being ported? Is this even possible???

I would like to see if the throttle body opening could be enlarged to 85MM or if an aluminum 6.1 manifold is a better option. Thanks!

The only reason i say no to the porting that it would be almost impossible it seems to get all the ported areas smooth again as they are factory. Also when porting the area, the heat produced when cutting/grinding could cause the plastic to be weak. In my opinion I would go ahead and find a 6.1 intake manifold. Esp. if u plan on boosting etc later on. I would esp. be worried about the plastic intake manifold with boost on it after porting. It may drop the amount of boost the intake could withstand. good luck to ya bud!

go with the 6.1 esp if you run nitrous

also dont forget

if you have a 85mm throtle body and match intake but your gasket is not open big enough,...

so you would also need a biger gasket, bore to 85mm

I didn't think porting other than port matching was really of much benefit in a dry intake. I could be wrong though. :thk:
