New Lift!

I'm sure some of these questions have been answered on here, but it is taking forever to find any of the answers. I just order a RCX 6" lift with the Bilstein 5100s, 22 XD Monsters, and 37 inch Toyo Open Country M/Ts. (This is going on a 2011 white sport) First off, does anyone have this size tire with 3.55 gears? Second, I would like to here some feedback about the wear on axles and transmissions from some of you that have had a set up like this for a decent amount of time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have 35's on 3.55 gears and it sucks. Next is 4.56's and then 37's

I ran 37s on stock 3.55 gears for 10 months with no issues. You lose power but its by no means horrible. It was fine on road and offroa, until you got into some thick stuff and it would bog down.

I recently went to 4.56s w/ a locker. Both the gears and the locker are NIGHT & DAY better than the stock gears and lsd. The power band with 4.56s and 37s is the same as the RT truck wth 4.10s and stock tires.....it moves! Its probably my tires, but from all the runs and videos i've made, my best is only spinning the tires till about 20mph. Snapped this yeterday when I went in for my diff fluid changes, their having a hard time lately....

Sounds good. Thanks for the responses. If you don't mind me asking; how much was your gear swap?

I would also know how much it would cost to change the gears.

I was quoted $2000 for everything including the DTT. Candy that is the downside of a true locker. Little rough on the tires during street use

Zeus hit it on the head with the labor. The shop that does mine is expensive, they want 2300 for an 11...thats just gears, labor and modding your carrier.

My locker is torque biased and unlocks when neqiotating turns Zeus. It works the same as a real Detroit Locker. Normal driving I dont have any tire hop or spin turning unless I hammer down on it. My tire is disenigrating bc I cant stay off the skinny pedal :D

Zeus 02-10-2012 05:38 PM

That doesnt sound bad and sounds a lot like the DTT. Which Locker are you running?

candy08 02-10-2012 05:52 PM

Im running the Yukon Grizzly. Same exact internal design as the bullet proof detroit locker. Has a crazy warranty on it too! Dont get me wrong, too much throttle will make it hop, but only 100% locked when on the skinny pedal. I think you were thinking lockers acted as a spool at all times which isnt the case. The DTT is good for what it is, until you get a tire in the air and only that airborn tire spins. Even the factory clutch pack style lsd would be better in that situation bc you could create friction between those packs with a little brake tapping....then you would move!

God help me if I ever get a wheel in the air. I may be getting confused between all the crap I have looked at for the drag car and the truck. happens when you have a tiny brain
