Service managers..ugghh

I called the dealer yesterday to make an appointment to get the oil changed. She asked me if I had any problems with my 1500 yet.I said no but had noticed the torque converter making some noise.I got the response that I expected.Hadnt heard anything about that.I told her about the online forums and that i'd heard there would be a recall soon. The reply was they'd deal with that when it happens. Laughable.

Maybe she just hasn't heard of it?

The TSB is out to all dealerships about the torque converter, That sounds like the kind of answer you get from the service writers. Ask to speake to the service manager and demand they repair the torque converter under warrenty.

Service managers are managers, not car people. Most of the ones I've dealt with don't know anything about the cars their dealership sells. You would think service managerrs would come up from the ranks of mechanics, but that's not the case.

Of the service managers i know about half are licenced mechanics...

odd, the first thing the service manager does at the dealership i use is check the computer for recalls, flashes and any tsb issued. prettty good guy.

My dealership has slightly changed the way things are done.
They used to check for any bulletins when a customer came in for anything
My service writer/manager still does for me, he knows that i depend on my Ram to be ready to go at any time my business phone rings.
The other service writers don't check unless you write it on Customer Request Form
They made this change right after the JEEP service bays were closed down & everyone has to use the Dodge service bays
Another change they made for the worse, before the service writers & parts department would send the paper work to Accounting desk, your name would be called, you paid the bill & someone would bring your vehicle to the waiting area & hand you the keys. Now each service writer & parts person has to handle everything themselves, using more cash registers, more credit card machines, more printers & the worst part, way slower service, making everyone wait for each employee to finish doing paperwork, payment, & calling for the vehicle to be brought up front for the last customer, before beginning to help the next customer

Well mine is still playing stupid over the whole deal. I didn't have the noises until recently. It seems to be noisy after it has been sitting a while on a cold start. When the recall happens I will go in and tell them "TOLD YOU SO YOU DUMB BI^%*ES" :hah: Now hurry up I got things to do... I know they gotta know. I have talked to 3 different dealerships in the DFW area about this and they all say almost the same "rehearsed sounding" thing. MMMmmm No? I haven't heard of anything like that. I will call you when I do and your number is... They Know about this. I even showed one the forum post on my phone. Told him they needs to get with it. He said that isn't official enough and I said that is what you said about all the issues with my wife's old Journey we swapped out of for her Ram and I now see a recall notice on every thing I brought to your attention when it happened that ya'll wouldn't fix. He raised an eyebrow like he knew I got him on it but he couldn't do anything about it. :box2:
