I believe that is only for the AC. Have you tried it while running the AC?

The issue is (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the re-circulation button only works when you're not sending air to the defroster vents. I usually have to adjust it so it is going out the dash, dash/floor or floor vents for that button to work. This is through trial and error so it may be more (or less) complicated than that.

You are correct. If you have the defrosters on it will not re-circulate. The light will just flash at u. I think this is one thing they should fix. When it's in auto, full auto. The re-circulate should automatically adjust the settings.

There is a half moon shaped shroud that pivots over the intake fan located behind the lower glove box. When you select re-circulate, the shroud adjusts it self back from the intake fan so as to minimize the amount of outside air directed in to the fan and allows more cabin air to re-circulate back in to intake.

I'm sure you have already noticed that these are not the most powerful blowers. When you set it for re-circulate, you are telling it to position the shroud so that it sucks air from behind a dashboard console which is restrictive. I don't live in up there so I don't have to resort to setting my heater on this setting. Only the A/C during the summer.

Turn up your blower to high, set it to recirculate, climb in to the passenger side and stick your head below the glove box and listen. Pull your lower glove box and you'll see what I described.

I agree with the others. This is something that should be improved.... in addition to a better blower.
