Hood rub?

Looked under the hood today and noticed the nice new hood liner has an obvious rub in it that my only guess says is coming from the top rib on the intake tube. Should this be happening?

Seems a poor fit of one part or the other if they're tearing up after less than 2,000 miles.

that would be the tallest thing that could make it rub, try taking the tube loose at the throttle body and make sure it's down all the way then tightening it up, also u may have to adjust ur hood bumps on each side. good luck!

That's also not the stock intake box, even if it IS a mopar CAI. My bet would be it's not seated all the way down onto the throttle body

I showed these pics to the dealer service manager and he's asked me to bring the truck in so they can check it. Since it came with this CAI installed - and I've done nothing to it in the 1 month I've had it --- if it comes down to it, should I ask/expect them to replace the hood liner? Am I being an A** to ask for that? After all - it is a new truck and the damage is not my fault but is that being unreasonable?

It would be up to the dealership's discression, but I can understand if they refuse to replace it. It would be of them to do so, and fix the cause, but I don't know if they will.

Kudos to my dealership - Landers Dodge in Bossier City, LA. Took the truck in this morning for them to see the problem and first thing from the Service Director was - "we're gonna need another one of those (liners)." So I'm getting a replacement but solution to problem remains unknown. Apparently the intake tube is seated properly, and the dealer found same problem on another similarly equipped truck on their dealership lot. So while we wait for the new liner to come int, they're gonna contact Chrysler engineering to see what options may exist.

In final analysis the fitment clearance simply may not allow the CAI and hood liner to work together. We'll see...

Nice to hear that the dealer looked after you....

Just to wrap this up, I swapped the OEM Mopar intake tube and coupler for one made of carbon fiber from Legmaker Inc. That solved the rub. (Still don't know why the OEM tube was rubbing - another employee truck at the dealership was showing the same problem.) The dealership ordered and installed a new hood liner and I'm down the road very happy and well taken care of. Kudos again for Landers Dodge.
