Spare tire when lifting/leveling
I've made up my mind to put a 2.5" level on my Ram, but I'm going to wait till I need new tires (I can't justify new tires when the stockers are dang near new).

What is everyone doing for a spare when they put bigger tires on their truck? Are you guys keeping the stock spare or getting a spare the same size as whatever tire you put on?

I ran a stock spare in HS when I had 33's on my old truck for like 25 miles and ruined by posi-track rear end... (86 silverado)

Will a 35" tire fit in the stock spare location?

From what I've heard a 35 will fit in the stock location but haven't tried for myself

I would just leave ur spare like it is, the point of a spare is it be temporary, until ur other tire is repaired. It will not hurt going short distances with a smaller spare on there. Just my 2 cents.

It never hurts yo have the same size spare as what your running on your truck but I'd save money and find a used tire for the spare, its not like its hanging out in plan site on a tire rack like a wrangler or something, I like having a full size spare for piece of mind, but no point in shelling out full cost for one

I agree with schmitz ^ I would try to find a used tire the same diameter as what you want to run... doesnt matter what it looks like, use a shitty steel rim as it is going to rust pretty bad and have stones thrown up at it all the time... after 8 years you should see what my spare looks like, tire looks fine, rim is nasty.

This is where I keep my spare:

defender roof rack is a option to put a spare on the roof as well as a bed mounted spare if it doesnt fit under the bed
