Improved Fuel Milage

I have had my Ram for 4500 miles now. Around town which is 95% of my driving I was getting 11mpg. I now get 11.2 very disappointed!

That seems to be about what I get in town. I have 4475 miles and average about 11 mpg. I have hand calculated and it seems that my EVIC is really, really close, like .1 mpg of what I get.

The best mpg I have recorded is 15.2 when I first bought the truck on an all highway run from Hickory, NC to Douglas, GA. Since that time I have never run a full tank of fuel thru her without the trailer hooked up for a period of time.

I know my truck is a 2500 and a Mega Cab, but that seems to be pretty par for the course on city mileage.

As I've stated in other mpg posts I must be lucky. I regularly get 14-15 mpg in town and 18-19 on the highway. I even averaged just over 20 one trip. I've got just under 4k on mine now. These trucks must be really sensitive as to how you drive them, I can really drop my mpg if I'm playing around and driving hard.

Im just a touch better... 4600miles and averaging 13-14 in the city both calculated and on the EVIC but I find on the highway I can get about +- 20... usually empty as my Ram is my daily driver.... I do live on a mountain tho so 1200 foot climb every day probably has some impact... and i am pretty light footed....

i just fueled up 1hr ago,14.5 mpg hand calc.evic says 15.2,i have 3:55 rear and only 1188 miles now.went from elko nv.to twinfalls id.avg.was 18 at 75mph hiway and 70mph on hilly 2 lane which was 80% of the trip so im happy.havent pulled my enclosed trailer yet 14x7.my 09 cummins got 13 pulling it home so if i get 10mpg i will be happy.had a new 1978 f-150 w/351 the best it got was 12 empty.so the ole hemi is ok.i probably could get better but every once in awhile i like to hear the rumble, lol anyway i get about the same as hemiblack.

I pull a 14x7 tandom axle trailer a lot with my rig. If I tow at 75 I get about 8.5 mpg, but if I back it down to 65 I can average very close to 11 mpg. This is out west up and down mountains all the time. I tow the trailer almost everyday to and from work, about 40-60 mile round trips. I average about 9.3-9.6 mpg with the mixed city highway towing. That works out to about 1.5 mpg less than I got towing the same trailer with my 2003 GMC 2500 6.0 work truck. Not bad considering that truck was a single cab stripped work truck. My Dodge has got to weigh 1500 lbs more than that truck, and I will take the comfort, power and looks for 1.5 mpg anyday!!!

Before I got rid of my 2010 1500 about a month ago, I was getting 13 city, but it was also cold. Usually I never dropped below 15-16 city. Highway I was getting 18-19 doing between 70 and 80 mph. I also had about 20k miles. But even from the get go, brand new with 7 miles, I was getting about 15.

yeah, but we were just kids back in 78 and only paid about .69 cents a gallon back then , and my father grumbled the same way we are grumbling at near 4.00 a gallon.

my truck has under 500 miles on it now, my driving is split between highway and local for my trip to work which is only about 15 miles, my first half tank was 11.88 hand calculated and on my second fillup down to half tank trying to not be heavy footed I got 12.5, pretty much what I expected from all I read and was told, not great but since I was driving an s10 zr2 which got crappy mileage too it is only about a gallon or so more a week for my work commute, I can deal with that for a truck that is 2x as big....
