tire sizes?

hey guys im sorry if this is a dumb question, but i have a 98 dodge ram 1500 4x4 it looks like it might be lifted just a bit, i dont know i just got the truck 2 weeks ago, but any way the tires i have on it are ok but i would like something just a bit bigger, not really taller but wider, it has p265/75r/16s on it now, i just want something wider, im looking at the Dick Cepek fc-2, great looking tires. well thanks for any help, im just lost with all of these tire sizes, and by the way it has stock wheels on the truck, they look like boat props, thanks again.

welcome to the forum, are you asking what a tire size that would be wider is? let me do a real simple break down of the tire size 265/75/16 the 265 is the width of the tire from widest point on the outside of the tire to the widest point on the inside of the tire in mm so basically just width, the second number 75 means the side wall (from rim to top of tread) is 75% of the width and obviously the 16 is the rim size. so you might want something like a 290/70/16 which would be about an inch wider and pretty close on height. I hope this is what you where asking for you may already know this.
