Reliability of the 2012 CTD?

I posted in the 2012 General Discussion forum but I was told I may have better luck here. I'd like to hear feedback on the reliability of the 2012 CTD? I'm going to buy a 2500 but first I need to decide Hemi or Cummins. The only thing keeping me from buying the Cummins right now is potential engine problems with all the emissions stuff. Or, has that been pretty well cleared up in 2012? I don't really want to do modifications right off the bat, I'd prefer to leave the truck stock.

Thanks in advance for any wisdom.

I don't know what you're doing with your truck, but I just bought the 2012 cummins about three weeks ago. I traded in a 2011 1500 hemi, I needed the 3/4 ton for the extra towing and hauling capacities.

I like the 2500, I can tell a big difference towing, but I wish I would've got the hemi now. It's cheaper to buy, cheaper to operate and cheaper to maintain. This cummins isn't impressing me with the power or mileage, I'm lucky to get 16 max.

That souns a lot like what I've heard others say. A great engine, but unless you modify the exhaust system, it doesn't perform the way you want. I'm not a big mod guy, plus I wanted as much payload capacity as possible, so I went Hemi. Averaging about 14.5 highway, less in town. Not great obviously, but what's a guy gonna do? Two options and niether is great in terms of "getting it all". Overall I've been happy with the Hemi. And it's nice to have lower payments and pay less at the pump.
