Front tow hooks

Just curious where everybody is getting their aftermarket tow hooks. My truck didn't come with them, but I'd like to add them. Also, how difficult are they to install?

I purchased mine at the dealer. I also picked up the lower bumper insert with the openings for the tow hooks already cut out. They were very easy to installl.

What did that run you at the dealer?

I went to the dealer and they told me that the holes have to be cut out in the stock lower insert???? No other insert was shown for my truck.....

My truck is a 12, but thought they were the same?

About $150 for the hooks.

I havent bought yet though.

The insert is easy to cut out. I used a dremel tool I think. The factory hooks install very easy and are really stout I got mine from dealer, can't remember how much I paid now. I bought them because when I was under vehicle looking around I noticed that it would be next to impossible to hook a tow strap anywhere without doing damage.

I picked up the OEM toe hooks off a Chrysler dealer on ebay - I think I got them for around $125 shipped. Then, I ordered the lower insert with the holes cut out already from my dealer - that part was $12.00. I figured that was easier than me hacking the stock piece with a dremel.

Once you pop out that lower plastic piece (there are some retaining plastic buttons on the top - I think 4 across), you can then install the new trim piece and then the tow hooks. I didn't even jack up the vehicle to do it - took me about 45 min total in my driveway with a couple sockets and some elbow grease.

Unless you have a Sport, you should be able to order that plastic trim piece from the dealer fairly easily. I have an SLT Big Horn and the part was available.

Check ebay before you order the hooks from the dealer - I was able to save about 30 bucks over what the dealer wanted.

I did the exact same thing as Turbo. Ordered mine off ebay from a Chrysler dealer and then picked up the new appliqué from the dealer with the holes already molded in. The push pins along the top just pop out and there are a series of molded in edge clips along the lower that will pop out with a little tug.

The hooks were a simple install. Held on by 3 bolts. The worse part was getting my torque wrench up into the top bolt. I drove my truck up on ramps just for extra space.

will the hd tow hooks work on the 1500?

Just buy a new insert.

Tow Hooks - Part # 82210967 - $130
Filler Panel - Part # 68088193AA - $10

Part numbers, pics, howto here at this link.

Stop cutting holes, it's only 11 dollars for the OEM insert.
