1/4 mile vid 2012 express

well heres a vid of my truck running a couple weeks ago. Its bone stock with a flowmaster muffler welded in. Im running my buddies 2001 trans am. its slow af for a ls1 car. (think its got a 5.3 lol) he only beat me by a car length. And the other video is me racing my buddies stock 05 3v stang. Its auto with a K&N drop in.

Are you guys using Tow/Haul mode when racing?

On a stock tuned truck it does nothing performance wise. All tow haul is for is when you pulling something and dnt want the tranny to shift into overdrive thts it. It bugs me tht people always think this. Now tht being said I dnt know with the newer trucks if it shifts to 2nd prime an so forth so dnt jump on me for tht.

Tow/Haul mode totally changes the upshift sequence to utilize 2nd prime,
and holds each gear longer (higher RPM) at part throttle before up shifting and down shifting.

its not "just" to remove the highest overdrive gear.

every 4G ram, regardless of transmission has two overdrive gears,
0.67:1 and 0.75:1 and Using Tow Haul mode only eliminates the 0.75 OD.
(Neither of which you would ever see in a WOT 1/4 mile run.)

I thought it just affected part throttle shifting as well as locking out MDS. Neither of my 2012's will use 2nd prime/3rd in tow haul mode.

Well that's not really a 6 speed transmission then is it?, if you lose your top .75:1 OD* and 2nd pr (your 3rd). You essentially have a four speed trans in Tow/Haul mode if you have a 12' Ram.

*just assuming on my part,
... but isnt towing with two overdrive gears counterproductive?

My 10'545RFE is a five speed, in normal Drive mode:
1=1st – 3.00:1
2=2nd – 1.67:1
3=3rd – 1.00:1
4=4th – 0.75:1
5=5th – 0.67:1

Tow/Haul mode adds second prime, but drops the second overdrive
so its still a 5 speed, (But after you hit 5th you "can" release the Tow/Haul manually to get into 0.67 OD)

1=1st – 3.00:1
2=2nd – 1.67:1
3=2nd Prime – 1.50:1
4=3rd – 1.00:1
5=4th – 0.75:1

My understanding of the new 6 speed:
is basically a 545RFE reprogrammed to use 2nd prime in the upshift sequence
without losing the second overdrive gear. (correct me if I'm mistaken)

1=1st – 3.00:1
2=2nd – 1.67:1
3=2nd Prime – 1.50:1
4=3rd – 1.00:1
5=4th – 0.75:1
6=5th - 0.67:1
