Towing with a Tuner

Hey guys, I have an '04 1500 with a couple mods(CAI, Headers, dual exhaust), I also have a Superchips Tuner that i am curently using the 87 octane program.

My Question is.....if im going to be towing a dual axle trailer with some atvs on it, do i need to change from the 87 program to the towing program from the Tuner? Also sense im using the Tuner program can i NOT use the tow/haul button on the truck?:4-dontknow: Not sure how sensative these things can be...Thanks:smileup:

The tow/haul button on the truck is completely independent from the tuner. Use tow/haul as normal, so put it in tow/haul mode when towing.

You do not want to tow on the performance tunes for the most part. You can either switch to the tow tune and use the premium fuel (91 octane) or you can usually also run the 87 performance tune but use 91 octane fuel. The second is the way I like to do it, seems to pull the same but gets slightly better mpg.

So if i use the tow/haul button as normal, do i have to go back to the stock programming on the truck or can i leave it at the 87 octane program?

No just use the 87 performance tune with 91 octane, and use the tow/haul button as well. You don't need to be in stock tune to use tow/haul.

i just ordered the cortex tuner from superchips and was wondering if the gains are noticeable in performance mode and how good the mpgs are in the fuel economy setting
