2nd gen rust prevention

fellas, i know 2nd gens are notorious for all kinds of rot so first thing i did when i got my ram was look for rust. sure enough, i found it. fortunately it looks like its easy to prevent. i got a farmer friend who swears by using motor oil or drain oil to prevent rust. guess it soaks in and prevents the reaction from happenin. anyhow, worked perfect on my old yukon so i got a pump weed sprayer from ace hardware, changed the oil, filled it up, and went to town sprayin all up in the bedsides, front wheel wells, and rockers. all the insides of the panels can be reached without taking anything off besides the drain plugs in the rockers. im sure this isnt the best way to do it but its free and like i said, it worked great on my yukon. i oiled the wheel wells before winter and the rust didnt spread even one bit through the winter. havent had the ram for a winter yet though.

I'm working on that now. I got lucky with my 01 it was clean and only surfice on pass rocker and under doors at the seam. So I sanded it down now I've sprayed rockers door sils lower body under doors with paintable chip guard.

Same thing here Ramfam Right under the rocker panels and on the door seam... what brand chip guard did you use?

A cheap can although it will take 2 of 3m paintable rubber chip guard. Bad thing its black. As you can tell the whole flock is white. So will have to paint rockers to match truck.

Another thing I like to do is in spring clean under truck. Paint frame a arms and driveline with cheap no name flat black. Seals rust and just makes it easer to clean

This is what I did with mine. Now paint is rough. I ran out before I finished. Its door sills undre both front and back doors and shadow line on body, rockers.
