Overhead Console! >.<

Allright so the overhead console in my Ram is all kinds of janked up. The sunglasses holder was broken by an angry slightly psycho girlfriend so that is a lost cause ....The lights are really what I would like to repair. The lights i am referring to are the "Click on lights" that are in a pair on the console. The drivers side light feels normal when i click it in. I feel like a bulb is all it needs. Now the passenger side "Clicky light" feels like its been suckerpunched. There is no resistance when i push it in it just feels loose. Now I have no idea how to go abot getting these lights out or replacing the bulbs.. My expertise is under the hood haha. I am lost up here, Thankyou! :feedback:

ps. attached a picture of the console I am reffering to, mine does not have the digital display though.

No sir. new console time. The lights are held in with little spring loaded plastic pieces. Can't be fixed, no way, no how. The bulbs twist in from the back of the socket up there and the overhead has to come down to change 'em.

I figured as much... Well I guess ill be looking around salvage yards or craigslist. Or I might just pop those lights out with a screwdriver and put in my own LED lights with an aux switch somewhere up there. That would save me from having to take the overhead out.

how would you remove the overhead? does it just have clips that hold it in? it seems fairly solid when i tried to pry it down. I have the same problem btw lol dont feel bad hunter!

If you look under the felt in sunglass compartment there are two screws then the clips. My driver side lighs broke. Same thing no click no spring no light at all not even when you open door . But I found an up side if you take a thin blade screw driver there's a notch above where you press light to come on you can remove lens. I found that mine is a broke spring and wire. Now all I have to do is keep her at bay long enough to fix it!

Like ramfan said...there are two screws and then it has to slide (back I think) to get the front clips to come free.

There are clips in opener compartment and I think something under the panel between lights. These are some pics now the screw locations are hard to see you need to take your finger and feel for the dents I've sliced mine alittle to referance them for myself. And the clips in dooropener compartment

what year is ur truck?
I see ur truck is the same year as mine so there will be 2 squeese clips under the garage door opener then after u release them you need to unclip the map lights wiring harness and then you should be able to pull it towards you. To reinstall its just reversal of removal. hope this helps
