Fluctuating Oil Pressure Indication

I've been towing our 8,000 pound 5th wheel down to CA from BC, and normally my oil press is stuck at 275, but it has been drifting down to almost 0, then back up for a while, then back down. No other indication of trouble (engine keeps purring right along). Even tapping the brakes will make it jump back to normal for a few minutes. Oil quantity checked ok. Just had it changed.
I'll have my guy check it out when I get back if for no other reason than I want the gauge fixed, but any ideas? Am I doing damage?
Thanks.

oil

Could be a gauge or sending unit problem but you may want to drop the pan and make sure you don't have some crap clogging the pickup.

Oil Pressure

Thanks, the weird part is that tapping the brake pedal at highway speed will affect it, even though the truck isn't changing speed at all (which might possibly dislodge crap in the pickup?).
If the oil pump really wasn't pumping, would I be able to run for 15 minutes at 60mph towing 8000 lbs?

Pressure

I think your pump is fine, and it is probably an electrical problem but if you want to make sure about the pickup it may be worth a look. When you tap the brakes, does the pressure immediately go up or gradually climbs? If it goes up right away I'd say that it's an electrical problem for sure. I don't think the pressure pickup sensor should be too expensive. Maybe try a new one.:4-dontknow:
