Hemi Oil Filter

Hey guys came out from the store and notcied and small puddle of oil under the truck. So i crawled under and found the oil filter leaking. took it to dodge and the tech said that all the Hemi's filters come loose after an oil change. Anyone else have this problem or was the guy limp wristed that installed my last filter. Thanks:LOL:

Same thing just happened to me. The dealer offered me a free oil change because of it.

It seemed as if they just spun it up to the gasket and forgot to tighten it.

I would say limp wristed and they didnt do it correctly so he gave you a line of BS.

"all HEMI filters are doing this"??? sounds like a load of crap. No way Ram would have mass produced a filter that doesn't seal to the engine. They're not that stupid.

"took it to dodge and the tech said that all the Hemi's filters come loose after an oil change."

You should have asked him for his address so you could park your truck in his garage/driveway every night if thats the case

That has to bee the all time most stupid response i have ever heard come out of a techs mouth

I think I would have laughed at the guy who said that. Filters don't 'come loose'. Was improperly tightened. 1/4 turn past the point the gasket contacts the base should be sufficient.

I would ask him to repeat that statement so that when I quote him to the service manager I got it right.

Right on thanks guys, i did actually laugh when the guy said it. I guess he was just slow in the head.

As if someone gave you that answer! Maybe he was a former Harley tech that was new to Dodge...

It's been 1500kms and my Fram TG oil filter is not leaking.
