Bigred0311's Build Thread
Well I'm finally getting around to doing my build, i have been wanting to share for so long but just haven't had the time. I hope you all enjoy everything!

To start off i have a 2010 Ram 1500 5. 7L v8 4x2. Ever since i got this truck i can't stop putting new mod's on it, even my girlfriend says i love my truck more then i love her. I bought it used with less than 5,000 miles on it and i must say i got one hell of a deal on it. Below are mod's i have completed so far ( with pics ) and at the end a list of soon to come mods.

To start off some pics of the truck-

I'm not going to go in order of when i got the mods, instead start with exterior, interior, and performance.

The first mod was a Rhino liner. I got this done with a price tag of $375 and i must say it was definitley one of my best investments. In my opinion a bed liner is a must if you own a truck ( unless you have a cover with a bed rug ) especially if you move a lot of stuff around. These trucks should all come with factory bed liners but hey I fixed that problem.

Next mod is a Billet Tech Fuel door. I believe this was around 125 bucks. Mostly i got this because for my truck to have the factory chrome package and not to have a chrome fuel door just didn't seem right. I especially like that it is magnetic, however downside in the magnet is a cheap plastic piece that has a tendency to break when filling up this gas guzzler and i have had to replace it once already. It cost me a whopping 3 bucks for a new one!

Factory OEM Tow Hooks. I believe these ran me around 120 bucks. Considering that i was unable to the 4x4 ( which i was really upset about ) and i have an extreme passion for snowboarding just in case i ever get stuck i would want to have them to be able to be pulled out. Also i think they make the truck look a little meaner. Definitely a good choice. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE TO GET THE LOWER BILLET GRILLE WITH THE CUT-OUTS FOR THE HOOKS PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE!

LED lisence plate lights. There is so much more lighting i would like to do but so far this is all i got.

As we all know dodge gave us a shitty looking interior... well at least the gray/silver parts of our dash, so i decided to make it better! The total process took me about 2 days in between work and all to sand everything down from a medium to a fine, then paint and clear coat.

C/B Cobra 25 radio with a Lil wilson 500. The furthest i have tested this is up to 7 miles and its chrystal clear. This was a Christmas present to me and after months of it sitting under my back seat i finally decided to install it. Its powered by wiring i ran through my firewall and hardwired/grounded to my battery, and the antenna runs under the carpet, under the driver seat, under the truck and out through the bed.

Cabin Filter Mod. This is great and i think everyone should get one. Honestly i think i spend about 30 bucks for this and it took me maybe 20 minutes to completely install it.

Diablo sport predator tuned. Currently i am running the Perf. 91 octane tune and love it! there is such a difference in power.

K&N 63 series cold air intake. Preferred the plastic one over the chrome but it gave the engine a nice little whistle just before changing gears on WOT. Believe this ran me around $250.

Moroso Catch Can. This is an awesome investment. although i haven't caught as much oil at i have see some with the BT catch can's ( possibly cause i have only ever run synthetic) it still works great and it was a very easy install.

Sonnax line pressure booster- i have seen a lot of skeptical threads about this but personally i noticed a major differnce in shift pressure right after the first drive. Supposed to reduce wear and tear on the tranny over a long period of time so we will see.

Flowmaster 40 series w/ single in duel out- no explanation needed.

Resonator Delete- simple and it gave the 40 a much deeper and meaner growl.

Thats all i have for now for the truck. Currently in the mail i have a new v6 e-fan and a fox accoustics fox box for my subs.

Future mods:
JBA Shorties
Magnaflow Y-Pipe
Bilstein 5100's for the front and rear
HID's ( DDM tuning)
Shorty antenna
LED interior kit
Carbon fiber dash kit
New head unit ( ideas anyone?)
skid plate
remote start

are you wanting a flip out screen head unit or just a run of the mill one?

bigred0311 04-21-2012 01:10 PM

no not a flip out. Just a touch screen. Maybe one that is bluetooth compatible and possible have the ability for a back up camera as well. to be honest i haven't looked around at all cause i know its gonna burn a hole in my wallet.

Coming along great man!

best bet might be getting a OEM one because i dont think we have a true double din size radio stock.
