steering question
 
I am kinda new to the dodge world but not to the heavy duty truck world. I have a SRW 3500 4x4 that i fully intend on filling the fender wells out a bit as well as a few other mods. Before i move onto those mods however i like to try and shore up any weak spots. I have heard rumors and researched a little bit of the death wobble issues on the solid front axle trucks. does anyone have any recomendations for solidifying the front steering set up? Currently i am looking at replacing stock tie rod's, ball joints, and so forth with some stronger than factory replacements (moog probably). any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

2007 3500 SRW quad cab Reg bed 6 spd manual TRX4 Big Horn 6.7 ltr cummins

front ends are the weak spot, specifically the ball joints regardless of the brand you choose. the cummins puts some extra wt on the front end. on my 3500 i replaced ball joints with moog and they didn't last any longer than oem. figure every 40 to 50000 miles for ball joints.

forgot to add, death wobble seems to happen more often with lifted trucks and rarely a well maintained stock front end. just address any problems you feel as soon as you feel the front end isn't right, don't let it wait and you shouldn't have any issues with death wobble.

thanks. i do plan on a slight lift. nothing crazy, i actually just want to adequately fit 35" all terrain tires for a little better ground clearance when out at the deer lease. I will get the ball joints replaced before i lift/level it or put new tires on it then. thanks.

While being pricey, Carli ball joints are rebuildable and freaking awesome. Sage over at Carli is a Dodge genius when it comes to front end/suspension and their customer service is awesome.

Its something to possibly look into if you plan on lifting and large tires

im not looking at going all out. i still want a practical daily driver. i am looking at 35's for added ground clearance. i wanted to make sure i shore up the front end before i put a ranch hand and anything else i think about.
