Fixed to sliding rear window change out

I changed a fixed rear window out for a sliding style rear window on an old ford ranger truck many moons ago. Has any one done this conversion on a 1997 Ram 1500 extended cab? I was wondering how hard it was and if there were special tools or sealants required.

It is a PIA I have had too windows changed from slider to solid and both times the window glass installer was pissed when he found out it was a 2nd gen Dodge they told me they are among the toughest truck ones.

They are sealed in and a pain to get out. Standard window urethane to install. It can be purchased in a caulking tube at a decent supply store.

If you're going to replace it with a used one you can use the '94-'97 double slider, or the '98-'01 single slider. The footprint is the same but the options lead used parts sellers to tell you yours is '98-'01 because of the different panes.
