AC power inverter

So saturday night we have a big thunder storm here in San Antonio and lose power, long about 9 am sunday morning I got tired of waiting for the power to come back on so I figured I'd be a hero and run an extension cord from the pickup AC plug to our coffee pot. Well so much for being a hero, the damn thing kept shutting down, seems the power inverter doesn't have enough power to run a coffee pot

The AC inverter in the dash is only rated for 150 watts, and most coffee makers are well over 500 watts. Sounds like you needed a real generator for that job.

There's some serius irony is using a vehicles power outlet to mix alcoholic drinks. I like the way you party

I think about the same irony when I see a drive-thru window at a liquor store! :)

I wish they had put a real inverter on the truck and put it in the bed like "OH MY GOD" the import other guys did...

Next years Rams with the Rambox, will have the option of a larger inverter within the Rambox

I don't see why they can't put one under the passenger side seat & put that flimsy jack back behind or under the rear seat or against the rear wall of the truck

The main purpose of the dash inverter was to power laptops/ipods and other small electronics. 150 watts is more than enough to serve that purpose. I think it's fine for the intended use.

There are plenty of aftermarket inverters if you really need more juice.

When I want more portable AC power, I'd go with this:

Yeah, I know... it's a Honda... but they do make the finest portable generators in the market.
