underdrive pulley!

can anyone tell me about underdrive pulleys! I know they dont add power but release what is being retained by the other pulleys! Are they worth yhe money?

RamTex 05-23-2012 07:59 AM

Yes they do add power... The faster the motor spins up translates into HP!

X2, I have the 20% underdrive Summit racing one, good price and real nice piece.

Summit one here too. They don't create horsepower like other bolt ons, but they do remove restrictions on what you are currently making by reducing the parasitic losses caused by spinning the devices on your serpentine belt system.

Hey, quick question for those of you who have the summit underdrive pulley. Is the pulley smaller? does it require a smaller belt or will the tensioner make up for this? And did you need a smaller alternator pulley or was there no issues there? I'm looking at picking one up too.

Much smaller diameter(ie.20%) and yes you need a shorter belt, Summit has the belt you need just ask, its a Goodyear Gatorback belt, unfortunately mine started squealing a few months later and I replaced it with the new style from Dayco and no more noise.

Here you go. Run the same and it helps in rpm spool.
