Need help rear leaf springs
I have an 2001 2500 ram diesel, I want to add a set of air ride suspension bags to help with the life of my rear springs. I have a set of bags from a previous truck so I need to make some brackets. The boughten ones call for these to sit on top of the springs which doesnt leave much room and will require me to cut the plastic fender inserts so the bags dont rub. I am thinking of installing these on the axle like i did my chevy. Problem is there is a large stem that is part of a block that is there to hit a rubber stopper should you bottom out your springs. There is a lot of room in between this safety and I doubt it would ever bottom out.
My question is has anybody ever cut this stem off the block and if so how did you do it? I would like to nstall the bags right beside the leaf. This would also require moving a brake line junction which appears to be welded on the axle so that will be anoth obsticle to overcome.
you can cut that arm off with a cutoff wheel. that arm is there in case you overload your truck you wont damage the springs. so you shouldnt have a problem. my personal opinion is sell those bags and get a set made for your truck it would make for alot less problems in customizing and headaches down the road.
