PlastiDip

1 Attachment(s)
I plan on PlastiDip'n all the chrome on my '11 Ram. I've heard a lot of good things..but it almost seems too good to be true. Will it chip with bugs on the highway? Will it hold up over time on a bumper? Another thing is that my local dept store only carry the 14.5 Oz can. I have a paint sprayer handy, I'm just not sure if it'll come out right..I just need some reassurance, help me out guys

i have never used this product but i don't see how this would hold up on front bumper, think rock chips. it seems like a never ending job. if i was going to do the bumpers. i would use bed liner.

huntergreen,
I used bedliner on my '03 and it chipped WAY too much, I didn't like the way it didn't catch to the chrome very well. Did I do something wrong? whats a better alternative? Right now, PlastiDip sounds the best

did you use the right pads and scuff up the chrome. too many guys bed line there jeep bumpers and they hold up pretty we;;, easy to touch up. but this furthers my point, if bed liner doesn't hold up, then neither will plasti dip, but the plasti dip will just peel off and you will be back to chrome.

or maybe I should stop being so damn cheap and get them powder coated or painted the right way lol

Well all you need to do is clean it no need to scuff it up for it to hold up and if it chips just hit it again with a touch up i did stripes on my hood 6 months and still going strong still look brand new

I got dodge to paint both my bumpers and its holding up great. I would recommend going to your dealer and trying to get them to do a cash job. Try offering to do the removal and reinstall your self that saved me a ton of money

I had a nissan titan before the ram and i bedlined the front bumper. Scuffed up the chrome and bedlined away. it looked decent if decent is acceptable to you. A few cips here and there over time from long distance driving. If i were you i would get them professionally powder coated and call it a day.

You can also buy more plasti dip off there.
I've dipped my grille a long long time ago, and it still looks good. And it is very easy to touch up. I plan on doing my wheels when I get my truck back. I vote yes.
