Mpg again!!!!!!

for anyone that cares, 17.9 mpg on a 400 mile trip. 90% hwy, very little traffic, traveling mostly 72mph. most of this driving was in north east pa and lower ny state. not huge hills, but not flat. 2011 rcsb 4x4 hemi, 3.55 gears. i am quite pleased with this hand calced number. evic read 18.2mpg, not to far off.

I drove 200 miles on interstate and managed 18.7 once lol and 15.9 on the reverse trip lol...The only difference I am aware was I might have bee a touch faster coming back.

I have figured out that MPG on the freeway is better if you keep in inder 2k rpms..Today I got 17.9 combo driving.

Mine is RC 4wd as well...

I'm thinking like this, I got 17 mpg on a 2005 Ranger 4wd with the volkwagon v6. The Ford ran well and trouble free but the Ram is way way better and better mileage to boot. :)

Hopefully it picks up some when I get some miles on her.

I guess either I just got a factory freak, or I got very very lucky, or I am just damn good. I never avg less than 20 unless I am over 75mph. Then it drops to 19.

Unless I catch a head wind. Then I am screwed. Its like driving a fridge on wheels with a headwind.

My wife claims to get 17+ in town, I dont know how, its all I can do to get 13-14 city most of the time. I am ok with that, equates to about a gallon a day in commuting.

Man I don't envy you guys who obsess about fuel mileage. I don't even look at the price of gas.

ArmyofOne 07-06-2012 03:01 AM

Meh, I don't really obsess over it, its simply curiousity for me.

I will always do at least the speed limit, regardless of fuel economy. In Texas, that means 80+ and 18mpg, but I don't care :D

Oh BTW...

army, i think the diff is, it is pretty flat in texas. when i said "not huge hills..." i was still driving in the mountains. guess i should have said, not huge hills forr this area. i remember texas being very flat.
