A/C Turning on and off

Driving the Ram today and noticed it was getting hot in the cab, but I did not turn off my ac. It started blowing hot air like it was shut off. I had to roll down the windows, turned the ac on and off, but it did nothing. All of a sudden, it came back on...thought I was going insane. Then it happened again tonight driving home, going on and off. Has anyone had this happen to them? It's under warranty, but I what a headache!

How hot has it been? The compressor might be getting too hot and going into overload to prevent itself from breaking.

Hey Dillon, long time no chat. It gets hot as if you were pushing the air-conditioning button to turn it off and then turning it back on it doesn't necessarily feel like the heat is on.

Hmm.... If you go feel around the compressor and on those lines do you feel anything kind of oily?

it could also be a pressure switch going bad that is intermittently tripping out killing power to the compressor. get it to the dealer before warranty runs out! lol

My dads 07 3500 did that. It always would blow air SLOW and then REAL HIGH. Idk its an 07 hting i guess

Check the condenser fan. Make sure it's working. I chased the same problem and replaced a bunch of parts I didn't need to until I realized what it was. Turn the A/C on and see if that fan spins up. If not, unplug it and check for resistance between the two terminals on the fan itself. If your multimeter reads 0 or OL, replace the fan. $100+ through NAPA...
