Need Opinions on Painted Tailgate Please

Long story short, I ended up dinging and scratching the tailgate on my truck. Although I am a believer that a truck is not a truck until it catches a few dings and scratches, being that it's only a few months old I decided to have the tailgate repainted. The amount of "orange peel" on the factory paint was unreal anyways. I can't believe we spend this kind of money on vehicles to get orange peel from the factory. Thats what you get when robots paint cars I guess. Anyways, the bodyshop uses PPG paint with a lifetime warranty.

My question is, how does PPG paint stand up to factory paint. I have been told factory is the best and I have read and been told PPG is much better. Please tell me what you think.................

I think it will be better than factory.

Factory paint use to be the best, but it is so thin these days, it's hard to believe it still is better than aftermarket.

All my race cars have always been painted PPG, usually we start the seasons first few races with the original manufactures paint, then we usually get sponsorship and end up painting the car with there colors with PPG paint. The PPG paint out lasts the factory paint easy, as TRCM said, todays cars. My buddy designs prototype cars and race cars, he swears by PPG paint, that might be cause he gets freebies from them every now and then. LOL

Thanks for the replys! I went ahead and had it painted and it came out real nice. I plan on keeping this truck for many years, so Im really hoping it lasts. I guess worse case I get it repainted 10 years from now if need be right? Thanks again everyone.
