no tow haul mode or trailer brake setup in truck
hey all. i have an 02 ram 1500 slt qc with 5.9l magnum in it. i dont have a tow/ haul switch or a trailer brake setup in my truck. do i need one or should i just run in D not over drive? i dont tow much yet ( 1 quad in bed and one on a little 4x8 open utility trailer.) but i am looking into buying a bigger enclosed trailer. enough to tow both quads. any suggestions? thanks!

Hauling quads really isnt hard on a truck. Not enough to lose power for OD. Just kinda manually shift and drop a gear in hilly terrain

I gotta tell ya my best bud had an 02 with the Magnum and he towed better than I did with my 4.7 and all the fancy stuff on my 04 SLT. Don't get me wrong, mine did the job fine, but he used to take an awful lot of pleasure in running by me like I was standing still. LOL. He had a few goodies like a tuner, CAI, and true duals. Very good power in it. You should be fine with the Magnum friend. Good luck.

Thanks gents. i know i have plenty of power. I just wanted to know what to do for when i tow heavier stuff like a 4k tandum axle trailer plus my 4k in toolboxes and things like that. should i get a trailer brake system put in the truck? i already have the 7 pin plug in bumper but no trailer brake harness. also when hauling that stuff should i turn o/d off? would that benefit whenever i am towing or just when towing heavy? I had an exhaust leak start on saturday and got from cat back replaced today with dual flow masters. i know thats not true dual but its what was in there and it sounds awesome as usual and i just replaced my plugs and air filter today and it already sounds and runs better i think. t- stat is getting done tomorrow along with new rear u-joint. nothing special power wise is done to truck since it already has a ton of balls. should i do anything else like the trailer brake setup etc? thanks!

I would run it in drive, no need to make the tranny shift back and forth.

even when hauling heavy? what about a trailer brake setup? know where i can get 1?

Autoanything can hook you up...I would run it in drive when towing period unless your on a flat open road or something...

oh ok. thanks a lot man. do you know what the plug looks like under the dash? and if this is factory done or aftermarket? i believe its factory as its all nice and neatly done behind the bumper.
