Help getting steering damper off

Just picked up a new steering damper. Figured it would only take a few minutes to replace. Wrong! Bolts came off easy, but I can't get the tapered end off. I tried a pitman arm puller, but it won't fit between the frame/engine cradle and the drag link. There's no room to swing a hammer either, I tried. Is there some easy trick to this? It's a southern truck, so rust shouldn't be a major issue.

PB blaster or cut it off.

Borrowed a tie rod puller from Oreilly. That made the job pretty easy.
