Best way to clean?
I was wondering what is the best way to clean the engine bay? I use to power wash my engine bay when I owned a car, the alternator was easier to cover as well as eletrical units, but with the truck its a little more challenging. So I was wondering what everyone does to have their engine bay look nice and purrtyyy

id say no power washing the new rigs to much electronics / i simply hose it off with light water and some kind of cleaner then use my leaf blower to dry it

Do you cover the alternator or any eletrical ports?

i do my engine regularly, and my mechanic friend cringes when i do it...hes says you might not have frigged it up this time, but you will for sure. so i too am nervous, but heres what i do.

cover the alternator with a plastic bag. spray some simple green or mean green (dont reach for the Adams APC in the picutre...GARBAGE) on the dirty areas and agitate with various brushes. blow dry with leaf blower and finsih with a coating. here i used sonus trim and motor kote, but other guys ive read love aerospace 303 protectant. i cant say i am not nervous about cleaning the engine bay, but man it looks good when its clean.

I know everyone says don't get water on your engine but what do you think it looks like after driving through a heavy storm. The rain gets blown up and around all over the place for hours at a time. My engine bay looks like it's been through a pool by the time I get home after a storm

Not to much water gets on the engine when driving, you have wheel wells/splash guards.

Water won't hurt too much as long as it's not a lot of pressure.

This is something I do every spring, just cover the alternator and use a good engine degreaser and gently hose it off. Keeps it looking shiny, especially with my BT dress up under hood kit.
