MDS Lifter Delete

Anybody know if this is a sure-fire way to disable MDS? Since we cannot flash the ECU this makes perfect sense. My only concern is if it triggers a DTC and won't pass emissions. I'm considering a mild cam and saw the lifter deletes. I may shoot them an email and ask, just thought I'd run it by yall.

It's a 100% fix if you want to delete it. It's the same non-collapsible lifters that are in your other 4 cylinders. I can't guarantee that you won't their a code since everyone I know that has done it has tuned their vehicle and disabled it.

i believe programmers can turn it off if you are using one

Correct, but at a certain cam lift you can collapse the lifters, which is why there is a delete kit available. The only way to handle this is to physically remove the collapsible lifters.

The MDS Camshaft is also ground differently

My thought is, the 1500 MDS engine that uses 5w-20 & the 2500 NON MDS engine that uses 10w-30 blocks are the same engine
it is the camshaft & lifters that are different
the rest of the sensors & stuff could be left off of the 1500 engine & it would not mess with passing smog tests, because they are testing the smog of a working 8 cylinder engine, not a engine that is running on 4 cylinders

MDS i don't believe has anything to do with smog, it was only done to pass the Federal Government's CAFE Mandates

EDIT:
the question would have to be, will the check engine light come on, if it does, it won't pass smog :(

Easiest and cheapest is just put it in "6". When its cold I automatically bump into "6" to make more engine heat faster, I don't even think about it anymore, its habit.
Any more for in town I just hit "tow/haul", again habit.

That's exactly what I do, funny my Tradesman with the single exhaust is much more obnoxious when MDS kicks in than my Express:Wow1:.

I use the DCX 1000 programmer from Diablo to turn off MDS. Prior to getting the programmer I did what the others stated which is to shift to 6 or put the vehicle in Tow/Haul mode. Both of these work fine, however I am very pleased with the programmer as you do not have to mess with pushing any buttons once you set it to turn off MDS.
