P 0306 code

during hunting low speed and low revs had code 306 come up after start up. Then a tapping noise start then goes. Had it tolled back to town. start up to put in the shop. Now there is no tapping noise. any ideas guys and gals before the mack - n - nicks get there hands on it. 2012 5.7l 1500 Hemi with the fuel saver what that does

how many miles? misfire cylinder #6...I would pull the plugs on that cylinder and compare to the others... I would clear code and see if it does come back, if it does, i would swap coil packs (with any other one) and see if the code follows (then it would be a coil pack issue).... and/or remove coil packs on passenger side valve cover and remove valve cover. Inspect the valve springs and look closely at the cylinder 6 valve springs for any breakage (which would cause valves to tap)

Code had been cleared and the oil changed since it was due. ( every 5k ). No problems the load ticking has since been silenced. Still have the Hemi Tick, talked a Chrysler Canada Rep, and a 5.7L expert, 3 Mack - N - Nicks. most of them agreed that dirty oil can screw with the MDS and cause a lifter to hang up.

Good to hear. I was thinking maybe your were on an incline or off camber terrain and might have managed to starve the oil pump for a split second.. if that is even possible with our engine's oiling system.
