2004 dodge ram 4.7l v8

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else has a dodge ram 1500 2004 4.7l v8 4x4? Trying to get an idea of modifications that should be made? Also has anyone experienced any issues with this model? Thanks,

i just got my 04 4x4 abt a mnth ago and ive begun the basic mods. my list so far: smoked projector headlamps with angel eyes and led bars, hemi style black grille, DIY tinted tails and cargo/brake light, an rtunes CAI (ebay) $60 made it work and made my own heat shield. its very loud and since its connected straight to the throttlebody it makes a great whistle at idle and a growl under accel, also a magnaflow muffler and 2.5" piping bought on ebay for 160. made a sweet custom dual exhaust with tips welded on from autozone for about $180-200 total. now all i want is a superchips flashpaq which i hear will add aproximately 70/70 hp/tq..thats a good standard setup for about 700 dollars. 400 for the headlights, intake and CBE all bought on ebay and about 300-350 for the programmer which i havent bought just yet. thats my 0.2c

For your year it's more like 20hp 20lbft max gain on 91 octane.

Do you have a crossover(x or h pipe) in your dual exhaust? If you don't that'd be an easy/cheap way to add back some power.

To the OP, intake, tune, exhaust is the big basic 3.

no x pipe yet but i plan on it with hi flow cats. my other car is catless soo im allset with a super loud exhaust lol

Do you mean change out original intake to a cold air intake? And put in a ex aughts system like flomaster? Just checking. Thanks,

Yeah a cold air intake, and y pipe and muffler swap. Flowmaster doesn't do a lot for performance, look for a straight through type like magnaflow or dynomax, etc...

If you can get a SCT tuner for your truck they are great. I would but they don't have them for my year. The superchips tuner for my year is amazing(60+hp) but for your year not very good(20hp).

damn 20/20 hp tq is better than nothing but i was hoping for more. i cant seem to find much more than a superchips thats been reviewd for my 04 4.7 on the Z. any one got a link please? (not a highjack attempt as i think the OP would benefit from another link as we share the same motor.)

Yeah IMO 20hp is still worth the $300 especially with the other features you get. Just unfortunately for you guys you don't gain as much with the older 4.7L.

Look into diablo predator and SCT they are good as well. Superchips just has great performance compared to diablo in my experience(SC tunes ran faster 1/4 miles than the diablo tunes) along with other things like easier starting with the SC compared to the diablo(SC did not advance timing at startup where as diablo did and made it difficult to start). And SC gives you transmission tuning.

I have no experience with SCT though but hear great things.

Hey guys while I'm at it I noticed a weird sound and sounded like a exaughst leak and when crawling under it appears to be at the manifold towards the cab I can see soot marks very small but noticeable. I am wondering if I should replace both manifolds and put the new ex aughts system on. I just bought the truck in July and with a service warranty so I am hoping they'll do the work for me. Also on the cold air intake should I get a cheap one or a more expensive one I remember on my cousins we swapped out with a cheap one from eBay and he got more mpg. Thanks,

The biggest thing with the intake is you want COLD air(not hot air from under the hood). So if it's an open filter that draws air from the engine bay that's not good.
