I have found a few places that sell FOBIK keys, but none of them have instructions for programming them. Does anyone know how to do this or does it have to be done at a dealer? I have both of the remotes for the truck but would like to have a spare that is easier to carry since I work out of town all the time. Here is one of the keys I found.
well it reads that it is a NEW item
not formally used
the instructions are
New Strattec 5909874 FOBIK hybrid transponder chip key that fits 2009 - 2011 Dodge Ram pickup witht he FOBIK system. This key will need to be cut and programmed before it will operate your vehicle. You will need to find a locksmith or dealer in your area with the appropriate equipment to program the key. Please keep in mind that the cost for this service may vary depending on your location.
I had both of my original remotes and followed the procedure for programming the new keys I bought from eBay seller for $20 each. The keys just have the chip in them, they are not the full remotes like the originals.
Failed. Tried it at least a dozen times with no luck.
Ended up taking the 2 keys to my local dealer, who cut and programmed the keys for $20 each. So for $80 total, I now have 2 extra keys that will open the doors and start/run the truck.
